Concept Note

Cinema has always been a powerful medium of storytelling, reflecting society’s evolution and shaping cultural narratives. In recent years, the film industry has undergone transformative changes, driven by technological advancements, shifts in audience preferences, and emerging socio-political contexts. This national seminar is an attempt to delve into these changes, providing a platform for students, researchers, faculty members and film enthusiasts to discuss and analyse the dynamic trends shaping modern Indian cinema. The seminar intends to focus on recent paradigm shifts brought about by technological advancements including the impact of OTT platforms, AI, VR advancements and digital filmmaking on cinematic expression and content creation. Plenary sessions on how cinema addresses contemporary issues such as identity, gender, climate change, and inclusivity will add to the understanding of contemporary cinema. Dialogues on newer trends in Indian and World cinema will definitely facilitate interdisciplinary approaches in the researches related to cinema and explore newer terrains in film studies.
