Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) was established under an Act of the J&K State Legislature in 1999 as a fully residential and technical university, the first of its kind in Jammu and Kashmir. Recognized by UGC under Section 2(f) & 12(B), the university is ranked 31st among Architecture Institutions, 151-200 among Engineering Institutions, and 51-100 amongst top Universities in NIRF 2024 by the MHRD, Government of India.

Eligibility Criteria

For Professor (e.g., Civil Engineering):

• Ph.D. degree in relevant field and First Class or equivalent at either Bachelor’s or Master’s level

• Minimum 10 years of experience in teaching/research/industry (at least 3 years as Associate Professor)

• At least 6 research publications at Associate Professor level in indexed journals and at least 2 successful Ph.D. guidance as Supervisor/Co-supervisor

• OR at least 10 research publications at Associate Professor level in indexed journals

For Associate Professor (e.g., Mechanical Engineering):

• Ph.D. degree in relevant field and First Class or equivalent at either Bachelor’s or Master’s level

• At least total 6 research publications in indexed journals

• Minimum 8 years of experience in teaching/research/industry (at least 2 years post-Ph.D.)

For Assistant Professor:

Engineering Disciplines (Civil, Biotechnology, CSE, Mechanical, Electronics & Communication):

• B.E./B.Tech./B.S. and M.E./M.Tech./M.S. or Integrated M.Tech. in relevant branch with First Class or equivalent in any one degree

• Desirable: Ph.D. in relevant discipline

• Candidates with Ph.D. after Bachelor's from Institution of National Importance with GATE/GPAT/CEED eligible

Business:

• Bachelor's Degree in any discipline and Master's Degree in Business Administration/PGDM/C.A./ICWA/M.Com. with First Class or equivalent

• Two years of professional experience after Master's degree

• Specialization in Finance, Marketing & Business Analytics preferred

Architecture:

• B.Arch. with minimum 60% marks and three years experience OR B.Arch. + M.Arch. with 60% at either level and one year experience

• Valid CoA Registration Number

Sciences, Humanities, and Social Sciences (Chemistry, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Sanskrit, Hindi, English, Dogri, Philosophy, Physics):

• Master's degree with 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in concerned/relevant/allied subject

• Must have cleared NET (UGC/CSIR) or SLET/SET OR Ph.D. degree (as per UGC Regulations 2009/2016)

• Relaxation of 5% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD at Master's level

• Ph.D. from foreign university ranked among top 500 in QS/THE/ARWU (Shanghai) accepted
